When the first customers starting strolling through the doors of Bakersfield Harley-Davidson this morning they were still laughing at some of the scenes in Wild Hogs. I cannot tell you how many people came up to us and thanked us for putting on such a great event. But the real people that need to be thanked is everyone that participated. Without your enthusiasm the event would not have been as great as it was.
The Wild Hogs Movie Night was honestly one of the best times I have had in a long time. Good ride in good weather with great people to see a darn funny movie.
The motorclothes department did an incredible job of decorating the showroom in a movie theme complete with Milk Duds, Jujy Fruits, Snowcaps and popcorn. It really set the mood for the evening.
The bikes started lining up at 5:00 PM and they just kept coming. We estimated roughly 180 to 200 motorcycles participated in the ride from the dealership to the Edwards Theater at the Marketplace. Channel 17 KGET was on hand and the Bakersfield Californian wrote an article about it. The ride began at about 5:45 and it was an impressive showing of Harley-Davidsons turning more than a few heads along the way.
When we arrived at the Edwards Theater the parking was roped off front and center. We could not have asked for a better setup with just enough room for all of the bikes although we were getting worried since it was filling up quickly.
By all accounts, the movie was a riot, made funnier by the fact that you could relate to the characters. We all know a “Dudley” or a “Doug” and many of the scenes although over the top would strike a cord. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, do yourself a favor and go see it. It’s a good one.
Special thanks to Maria and Herman from Edwards Theater for providing us with the excellent facilities, Donahue Shribner and Gil Cota for arranging the front and center parking, the many volunteers for helping to set it up and secure the bikes and all of the great employees of Bakersfield Harley-Davidson for putting on a wonderful event.
I’ve got 80 pictures here to share with you. Hope you enjoy them!

Thanks for the enjoyable evening at the movies. I had some reservations after reading the negative movie reviews all week - but hay, its a biker flick. As usual though the reviewers made a big mistake trying to evaluate something they knew nothing about. As a rider from the 60’s I was able to relate to the slapstick as well as the serious moments in the movie. (I guess you had to be there, be a biker or pay attention to some of your dads HOG Tails from the past to “get it”!). Good people, Good ride, Good movie.

I agree, Randy. It is no “Gone with the Wind” but it is what it is; a very funny road trip movie on Harleys.
I don’t know about you but I go to movies to get away and just have a good time and this movie did that.

Here we are weeks later and my “biker buddies” and I went on a small ride up the canyon and we are still laughing about the movie and what a great time we had. Even my wife, who made me buy the motorcycle because of HER mid-life crisis, is till talking about how fun it was. That is a good thing, keeping her mind off the fact that I have not mowed since Jan.
