They were kind enough to sit down with me for a quick interview…
Why a motorcycle?
Marv: I’m an adrenaline junkie. I’ve never ridden before but I’ve always been interested in motorcycles.
Have you ridden the bike yet?
Marv: I wasn’t sure I would ever ride the bike due to my health conditions. But one day I just said “I want to ride my bikeâ€. It was my first motorcycle ride I have ever been.
Where did you ride?
Susan: He rode to Caliente with me following closely behind in the truck on pins and needles the whole way.
Marv: When I was riding I felt refreshed and didn’t feel tired at all.
Susan: It was if he was free and best of all, he brought himself and the bike back in one piece.
What is your favorite feature on the bike and why?
Marv: Mine is the throttle.
Susan: The custom engraved windshield because it is Marv. It tells the story of Marv and I can look at it and see his past.
How did you design the bike?
Marv: It was a real team effort. I designed the bike and Susan devoted hours online finding unique POW/MIA parts.
Susan: It was a real labor of love.
Marv: If it weren’t for Susan the bike wouldn’t be here. People say Marv “Cool bike! You did a great job.†They don’t understand that we she put in as much effort as I did.
Susan: Parts came to the house every day. We got to where we called the UPS truck the Harley-Claus Bike because it was like Christmas for us opening up the boxes. If it passed the house we were disappointed.
